Vibration Damper

The vibration damper is mounted on the front end of the crankshaft. It absorbs and controls torsional vibration — the twisting and untwisting motion that occurs as the crankshaft is subjected to the pulsating forces of combustion. Without a damper, these vibrations can cause crankshaft fatigue, bearing wear, and even crankshaft failure.
